Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue… I have my opinions…
I love beauty just as much as the next person and definitely appreciate the beautiful faces and bodies of the famed Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue but I can’t help but remember me and my friends at 20 something. At twenty something it isn’t hard to be beautiful, and you don’t have to work hard to have a nice body, it all comes naturally! So for me, this issue is sort of hilarious because millions of 20 somethings have nice bodies and pretty young faces! My body was effortlessly nice back then and I barely exercised! Maybe I am missing the point here.. that every man loves a young, pretty woman, but my point is it doesn’t take anything special to be a young pretty woman other wise being born as one! Should we all revere something that didn’t take a stitch of work, discipline…? Effortless beauty? Doesn’t seem so special to me…. wow, a young girl with a nice body and pretty face.. how surprising! NOT!
They have the best make up artists, their hair done by the pros, the perfect lighting and the most skilled photo touch up pros in the business! If anyone has been subject to a photo shoot, it isn’t effortless.. it takes hours of prep time, make up, touch ups, lighting adjustments, poses in the mirror until your body looks just right… it isn’t all natural.. it is partial illusion.
These girls are beautiful, there is no question about it, but just because you are born beautiful, and you are young, again, not an unusual combination people all over the world go gaga over it! Frankly, it makes me laugh, and a lot.

What would be impressive is a magazine full of 40 plus women who still look gorgeous and are fit! It is not easy to still be considered beautiful in your 40s and that is something many of us “women” would like to see. I get it, Sports Illustrated is for the MAN, the men of the world who want to gawk at youth as if it is SO IMPRESSIVE.. what a joke… Because it is a GIVEN, it is already there, it is EASY and EFFORTLESS.. but men don’t care about that, they don’t see and or care how easy it is to be wrinkle free and thin, they just want to look at it and think it is SO GREAT! OMG.. look, well.. I secretly smirk inside because it isn’t so GREAT.. it just IS.. what is so impressive about something that takes nothing at all?
Why can’t someone create something much more impressive, something that the female worked for and achieved at an age that is seen as otherwise “over?” That to me is infinitely more interesting to look at… I see young and beautiful girls all day, every day… you don’t always see a middle aged woman who is still kicking some major A$$ in the beauty department! Show me different, show me something I don’t see everyday and then you might get a frenzied result from en masse, including women.. something they can aspire to, not have already been SO EASILY…
Perhaps I see an issue of something I have to create… oh no.. another project!!!
