After the book store, and a heavy backpack I crossed the parking lot of Sports Authority and have been dreaming about a Badminton set for my big backyard, but they were out and I meandered over to the sneaker section. I began to try on some black sneakers based upon style and found them to be mediocre at best comfort-wise. This big heavy set salesman, Darryl, walks over and says, “Do me a favor and try these on, and hands me Nike Air Max, although I am skeptical about the appearance of them, as they remind me of pseudo orthopedic shoes, I reluctantly put them on. I was immediately amazed by the comfort, I literally felt like I was walking on air! I then ask the price, he tells me $160, and I am hooked. I HAVE TO HAVE THESE UGLY and COMFORTABLE SNEAKERS!! I could reason the price due to how they made my feet feel. The sales guy mentioned that his knees feel better, his back feels good, and he wears them standing all day and they feel like heaven. Now in my back pack: several books, flip flops (for pedicure), other sneakers, running pants (another impulsive purchase at Sport’s Authority), pretty heavy.

The sales guy then tells me about this technological chip like product made by Apple for Nike that I can insert into the shoe and log all my running hours, and calories, etc. all for $29.99. Of course, I say, put it in, because I cannot believe the comfort of this shoe, and just know I will be running in these things. I ask to sit down and put on these new sneakers, and have them throw away the box, because I literally have no where to put it, strap on my overstuffed backpack, and run home basic training style and feel like a little warrior! Awesome, indeed. On my way home,  I see a metal rack with a “FREE” sign on it in some one’s yard, get home, and take my truck over to pick up that sucker and put in my garage! All in a day’s work! What a great Sunday. Productive, peaceful, and beautiful. Whoever says being alone isn’t fun is insane!

Which now brings me to my next point. I am shocked by people who can’t be alone and do their own thang. People who waste their free time with other’s just hanging out and shooting the breeze every spare moment. Is that productive? To me, my free time is precious and I want to further my knowledge and better myself every moment that I can. Learning, doing business, figuring stuff out and reading. I cannot think of  a better way to spend my time, well… maybe hanging out with someone and having a great brainstorming session, or perhaps if they’ve got more wisdom and knowledge than I do and can teach me something- now that would be great! Otherwise, sitting around, drinking, doing a lot of nothing, I can do without. I want to drink in all of life I can, learn all I can and treat life like the challenge it is and do all I can while I am 6 feet above ground. I can think of nothing more nightmarish than hanging out with numb people who waste my time.  I don’t get people who need or want to escape feeling or doing- just means they are unhappy and doing something horribly wrong and need to forget or something. I love challenging people. People who make me think differently switch me the fuck on! I don’t want to be turned off in anyway shape or form.

I was amazed at how fast he worked and was grateful as he created a temporary gadget to hold the window closed until my part arrives from California! I then asked him what his specialties were and he told me about:

Being a woman, I am reluctant to believe any mechanic or man who works on a car because they can take advantage of a woman’s lack of car knowledge, but let me assure you, he is not one of those! His prices are more than fair!

He also installs home entertainment systems! Gil is honest, hardworking and will do what it takes to fit you in when he can and to let you know exactly what the problem is and what it will take to fix it! He also played some of my favorite music while working and didn’t mind me watching every move he made! I love to watch people fix things! His shop is spotless and a pleasure to visit!

This gadget kicks a$$! I love it because I am always running sort of  “late” in the am.. and put 1/2 recipe of my body factory shake in it and go! The top fits in my jeep cherokee cup holder, and when I am done, I can wash it at work! No mess to come home to, no blender top in the sink with soap and water waiting to be washed! Something so simple.. makes my life so EASY in the am!!

As my 2 year old blackberry Curve screen was addled with an spinning hourglass for 6 hours straight, I was a bit excited at the thought that I could finally reason the Blackberry Bold!  I posted awhile back about how much I loved the BOLD because a friend of mine got one when I lived with them and I was envious of the speed, larger typing pad,  larger screen and the ability to watch videos, television, etc on it. 

Here I was… finally at the denouement of my Curve and I was at the AT&T store toiling over my decision Blackberry or iPhone, repeatedly, going back and forth, talking with the sales force AND the customers in the store.  Every customer in the store had an iPhone, one other one, was like me, wondering, “should I stick with what I know and love, or should I venture out?”  Me and my new mystery friend, a Haitian woman and her husband both stood mesmerized by the iPhone display, side by side.  Both agreeing that we loved our blackberries, but were intrigued by the technology and capabilities of the Apple!

A customer walked over and pulled out his iPhone and said, “No matter where I am, I can find a Starbucks with this application!” He demonstrated by simply touching his screen how he would find his favorite coffee shop where ever he may be.  He then went on to describe that there were 100,000 applications created for the unit and that I would be crazy not to get it!  Another man at the register was buying accessories for his iPhone shouted over to me, as I asked about the battery life… (exuberantly) “It will last all day!”  These customers were so enthusiastic and felt free enough to chime in due to their satisfaction.

The sales person then asked me, “What will you use it for, email, texting OR Internet?”  I replied, “All three.”  The salesman had a blacberry to check his emails all day and his iPhone to surf the internet. He had two because the company paid for it.  I was envious as I wanted both… I walked over to the iPhone display and the other woman, who was confused as well, walked over and I said to her, “I am doing it!” We high-fived simultaneously, and she said, “then I will too!” We both laughed.

I am at the register setting up the phone with my emails, contacts, and getting a quick lesson when I ask aloud, “What is the speaker like?” The salesman across the store shouts, “not as good as the blackberry!”, and then the woman throws me the hairy eyeball of confusion, and I throw it back!  I then ask, “how is the battery life again?”  My salesgirl says, you will need to buy a car charger because you are using a big screen and it can run out of juice fast…., and a screen protector, and an AppleCare Plan.. Again, the other woman customer, at another register, with another salesperson shoots over a killer glance at me as if to say, “Are we making the right decision?”  We kept laughing and smiling because both of us were going through the same concerns over and over in our minds, having just come off  the Crackberry!

The salesgirl told me the iPhone is much easier to use than the Blackberry due to the touch screen.  As I was packing up my bag with my wallet and putting away the boxes, cords, accessories, my iPhone rang! I didn’t know how to answer it! I selected the “motorcycle” sound ring.. which is hilarious!  I figured it out, and felt a little concerned as I drove home, with a half charged phone I didn’t know how to use…I was uneasy…

I then played around with it at home and have noticed that it really does work much better for me on so many levels, due to my blogging and Internet activity.  I am still getting used to the delayed emails which I must manually retrieve, but my texts come in instantaneously, and I have so many more ways to use this handheld device than I could have ever imagined!  I can record video and put it up on YOUTUBE, I can leave myself voice memos, important for us creative types who’s life consists of brainstorm after brainstorm! It has increased memory to store all the pics, videos, web pages, applications, etc.  I can’t wait to explore the Application World! I hear it is mind-blowing! Oh, and the texting is not so bad, you can do it one handed, and tip the phone sideways for larger buttons!

Farewell to the Crackberry, and hello to having an electrical outlet forever available to me to use my new handheld COMPUTER.. ah.. hem.. I mean iPhone!

Yesterday while at work, I was refilling an ink address stamp and discovered that maybe I was putting the ink in the wrong holes. I resealed the stamp with the cover and tried to use it only to have it leak and drip and create a huge mess on my hands and on my desk!  Panic stricken, I ran to my bosses’ bathroom and tried to rinse the jet black ink off in his very white and clean porcelain sink!  I then noticed that the ink was sticking to areas of his sink and tried to use regular soap,water and a paper towel to clean it.  It wasn’t working… I went downstairs to his cleaning product cabinets and found Tech Stain Remover and brought it up stairs to try on these hideous black stains.  It worked! So fast and effortlessly.  I then began to relax.  I thought I ruined my bosses’ sink! I had to share this great product as a result.
