I dvr’d this show from the Discovery Health Channel and I was watching it this am as I was getting ready to leave for work.  It featured a lot of obesity and focused on health, dietary suggestions, and featured some unsightly organs, via OZ STYLE.  I typically enjoy everything he has to share, but a couple moments in the show made me a little mad.  For one, they put this woman in a window in Manhattan and asked passerbys to comment on her appearance.  Apparently, this was supposed to propel her into action and instill in her a desire to better herself. 

The comments were superficial and many of them included critiques on the condition of her skin!  I heard comments like: she has bags under her eyes, lines on her face, splotchy skin, on and on… I am a middle aged woman and know that most women do not have skin like I do and it’s not because they have a bad diet and don’t exercise! I can also get bags under my eyes! Who can’t?? I take a very aggressive approach to my appearance, you can surmise what you will.. but most people don’t and that doesn’t mean they should be judged so harshly because of the natural effects of father time.  While I understand that eating right combined with exercise will slow down the aging process.. it isn’t the only factor! Genetics have a lot to do with how you age, if you stay out of the sun, amount of stress, etc.. My point being that there are so many OTHER factors that determine our appearance.  Shame on you DR. OZ for taping for television such  comments! and more so SHAME ON YOU for stating yourself after the window incident– “People judge eachother every day, they walk by and think these things!”

Seriously, WHO THE FUCK CARES DR. OZ what any body else thinks!? That is what is wrong with our society! To keep pounding that message home is ludicrous and downright irresponsible!  I care for my skin FOR ME! I want to like what I see when I look in the mirror. It isn’t for others.  Aren’t we more than our respective outer looks?  MOST PEOPLE are average looking at best.. MOST PEOPLE don’t take aggressive measures to care for their skin and exist on this planet just fine… for someone like DR. OZ to make such a statement in order to precipate change in others is astoundingly short sited.

People for the most part are ordinary, average, heavy set, and don’t prioritize trying to look glamorous.  They can’t, they won’t, and most of them don’t care!  The human race is mostly comprised of people just being people.. and not being overly concerned with  trying to keep up with the Jones’ and there is nothing wrong with that… they can be perfectly happy.

Dr. Oz, don’t put people in store windows to make your point…stick to what you know. ORGANS and scientific studies and please let them know that it doesn’t matter what any one else thinks about their appearance.. it only matters what they think! Think about it… how many times have you gotten advice from someone about how your hair should be cut, colored, or how you should dress, etc… when you know inside, you  have your own style.  I am NOT SAYING that I have never changed a man’s clothing or hair.. BUT they had to be willing to accept the change and LIKE it… They had to like it.. they didn’t do it just for me.

Occassionally I stumble upon some amazing web sites that are chock full of helpful information and SelfGrowth.Com is one of my faves.  I have signed up to be on their email list and get great tips via email on a regular basis from some of the leading self improvement, human potential experts out there.  This site is relatively new, but growing quickly.  I get totally excited about supplements, health and attempting to feel my best all the time.  I won’t lie, I have been feeling a little fatigued lately, so I have been very focused on creating energy, vitality, and health in 2010! Notes from Tricia: A Bevy of Boob Jobs

If you live in Los Angeles, it isn’t hard to notice the sea of medically augmented breasts among us. In fact, plastic surgery is to Los Angeles, what the Red Sox are to Boston (btw, sorry about your loss, Boston).

I’ve lived in LA for 5 years now, and I still cannot adjust to the idea that women are so quick to go under the knife to enhance their bra size and cleavage. (And with a chest as flat as mine you’d think I’d be more understanding!) It boggles my mind. I mean big boobs are so plentiful here, that there isn’t any allure or mystique to them anymore…you pretty much assume they’re silicone-induced and from there the beauty is quickly lost.

Now, for any boob-enhanced readers, please forgive me, I don’t mean to offend you!

The reason for my rant is that there is a correlation between boob jobs and modern culture’s weight loss quick-fixation. The point is, that we are accustomed to seeking an outside, superficial solution, to an inside, psycho/spiritual problem. What I mean is, when people go under the knife the reason is usually, (they will tell you), “To feel better about myself”, “To feel sexier”, “To be more attractive”, “To finally look and feel normal”.

But the truth is that self-esteem, sensuality, attractiveness, and feeling “normal” are all qualities that must be realized on the inside before they translate on the outside. Sure, you may “look” more attractive, sexy and “normal” from plastic surgery, but how deep does that feeling go? Does it really reach that inner, empty place, from which these original negative feelings spawn?  And if you focused on healing these feelings within, would you have the same compulsion to change your outsides in such a severe way? I don’t think so.

In fact, I believe that 98% of all diets fail because people are looking to feel better on the inside by altering the outside; however, when that is all they do, those familiar feelings of loneliness, fear and discontent begin creeping back into their lives and the best antidote for such feelings is…why, food, of course!

I am a big fan of Friday Night Lights and this watching hobby has inadvertantly introduced me to Taylor Kitsch, as you can see from the pic he is ridiculously handsome!

How could I have not known about him as a woman who digs cute men before this show? Is it because I wasn’t aware that he was an Abercrombie model, or in Snakes (Snacks) on a Plane (I didn’t see it).  After seeing pictures and seeing hin in action as Riggins in Friday Night Lights, the camera loves him much more in motion.  Although, he doesn’t look terrible in pictures!  Ladies, I think he is going to be the next “Matt Dillon” of sorts.  Maybe not as edgy as Matt was, but definitely as cute and appealing!  Keep an eye out for him, he is going places!

He is a certified personal trainer and nutritionist.  It shows!  How many actors can back up that face with a body? Not too many…
