I love this software program! It also calculates, fats, sugars, proteins, and gives exercise, and food preparation recipes all wrapped up into one program! I am only using the free version right now, but you can pay  monthly if you want for more inspiration and tracking of goals! Diane Levin Wants to Stop the Sexualization of Children! Listen and Learn America, She is Onto Something Big!

In America, as much as I love my country, there is a lot to be said about the lack of real respectable culture here and Diane Levin addresses some very important issues in her book Sexy So Soon! She is a brilliant thinker on the verge of something really monumental and more people need to know about this! Please take a look at this book and the other link below which is a site catering to healthy body image! Why do people continuously comment on little girls dresses, clothes, hair or fingernail polish, shoes, etc? Why don’t more people say things like, “That was a nice thing you just did?” Good question, isn’t it? Stop focusing on external image with girls and start to put the focus on their behavior PLEASE!

http://dianeelevin.com/sosexysosoon/

Today’s children are growing up in an environment saturated with images of sexual appearance and behavior that they cannot fully understand. From a young age, this environment undermines efforts to promote a broad range of non-stereotypical skills and competencies for girls and boys. It influences what both girls and boys think about being male and female, their bodies, what they want to be, do, and wear, and teaches harmful lessons about social behavior and relationships. It can promote eating disorders, low self esteem promote, precocious sexuality. Based on her book, So Sexy So Soon, Levin explores the current situation, how it is affecting children, and what we can do to promote healthy development as we work for change.

Today’s children are growing up in an environment saturated with images of sexual appearance and behavior that they cannot fully understand. It can influence how they think about being male and female, their bodies, and what they want to be, do, and wear. It can confuse children about the nature of adult relationships and promote precocious sexuality. Based on her new book, So Sexy So Soon, Dr. Levin explores the current situation, how it is affecting children, and what we can do to promote healthy development in these times.

“On Being Mad”- Simple Explanation…

People love to avoid themselves, which is why they love to  get mad at someone else and then blame the other person saying it was something they did to make them mad! ha ha ha.  This is my favorite and totally NUTSO form of behavior that I watch in others, when self avoiding. (joke, cause anyone who knows me, knows I do not partake in self avoidance).

Hilarious how others love to mire themselves in a state of “being mad” because of “something you did”. Isn’t that super funny?  Don’t people realize that it is a conscious choice to be angry? That they choose to be in the state of anger or being mad? Why would someone choose that state over being happy? I have no idea. Why after someone apologizes do people feel manipulated by the apology and then choose to continue to stay mad because the apology wasn’t enough, and they don’t want to lose, and let someone off the hook!? Don’t they see that they are losing by choosing to be in a bad mood? The only thing they try to do is bring you to their level of misery in the process.

Does anyone else find this to be totally crazy behavior? I do. I choose to create a win/win situation instead of a win/lose situation in terms of relationships. I don’t care to stay in a negative place mentally when I know it is my choice on whether or not I choose to do so. I feel weird and dumb for choosing to stay there because the only person I am hurting is myself. I also adversely affect my health in the process. Why do people hand over their power to others and make themselves sick as a result. “You made me mad” is one of the most hilarious statements I have ever heard! Ah hem… “You made yourself mad.”

When are people going to begin to take total responsibility for the way they behave and not blame others for how shitty they feel? That is the million dollar question!

Things That Made Me Happy This Weekend

Fugazi’s song: Burning Too

Also, the Song, Last Man Standing by EPMD, Eric Sermon.. yea, the 80s..

The Emmy’s Memoriam- Always inspiring, because it makes you realize that your time is FINITE, you don’t have forever, and it sparks a fire under my ass to get done what I desire to get done!

The Quincy Jones Special on his being an Icon, I couldn’t find a link to the actual televised show I saw about his life but it was very inspiring!

Eating whatever I wanted yesterday, Sunday! I had so much fun eating donuts, hamburger, and pizza! Amazingly exciting!

Slowing down, reflecting, thinking, exercising, getting my hair did! Yea, feels good to no longer be sporting long, damaged yellow and brown hair. Now it is all integrated, good cut, with warm browns and golden blondes. Thank you Marci from Hair Innovations in Westport! You are talented!

Murphy oil soaping my kitchen floor- felt so nice and clean!

Watched a couple films: Hereafter and The Other Woman, both very good!

I am grateful that I am content to live the way I wish. I am grateful that I don’t fall prey to societal fear and feel lonely, desperate and that I don’t  fall for a mediocre relationship when I know I deserve a RENEGADE, STRONG, and unyielding man with complete integrity and discernment! I am grateful that I love to spend time with myself, by myself, getting to know myself and that I like myself. I am glad I am not addicted to other’s opinions of me. I am glad I spilled my coffee as I was staring at myself in the mirror, liking myself! ha ha ha…

Rock and Roll, Hip Hop, jazz, and life! I love my life so very much, and I am grateful that I have everything I do.  I am glad that I am not addicted to suffering and that I try very hard at life. I love trying hard, working hard, and moving toward being the best possible person I can be. I am glad I have the opportunity to change and to want to change. Life is VERY EXCITING!

Ok, this is getting annoying and repetitive. I will stop now. You get the picture! : )

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I did a couple meditations last night as I layed down  in bed ready to fall asleep. I slept very well. If you think about it, your body is always in response mode to situations forced upon you through life. Your body breaks down with stress. Stress is completely unavoidable unless you can train your response system. You cannot train your response system without first doing the work on your self.

Our body needs real rest which recharges us. Some of us never truly relax and or never settle into a total state of full body relaxation without the use of a substance. That isn’t helping the body necessarily because your liver has to filter the substance, and it is a false sense of total relaxation.

Mediation is like turning the body OFF for a little while. Checking out, if you will and sending messages to your cells, organs and mind. It is a great way to reprogram your self for peace, change and success. It isn’t boring to be peaceful, as it allows you to totally consume life and experience things in a fuller sense because you are calmer and you can process information better. You miss less, and your brain is more efficient.

It is very difficult to really meditate and sometimes it can take years to quiet your mind completely. It is a discipline that isn’t convenient. Before, I had to put a cd in my computer, down load it to Itunes, then load it on my ipod, then listen to it. Too many steps! With iPhone applications, you can download these programs quickly, take them with you, and use it through out the day! The recordings are of great quality as well!

Each time you meditate you are training your self to be better, calmer, smarter, more confident and are better equipped to handle life’s challenges and less apt to fall prey to DIS-EASE. With every year of regular daily meditation, you take one physical year off your appearance.

We all think we have no time, or things aren’t convenient or fast enough. We have become a lazy society whereby getting impatient if our Internet connection isn’t lightening fast. You need to slow your self down to really experience things and to know your self and how you are feeling in your body and mind. It isn’t asking too much of your self to put on your ear buds, and listen to a meditation as you lay in bed and let it sink into your unconscious.

It is a far way more productive way to spend time then to hang on the phone listening to someone else’s problems, which we all get stuck doing. I even can be the one talking about something too! So make the switch. Talk less and meditate more. See what your life experience becomes and how it changes you.

Commit to your self and your health, mental and physical. Become the best person you can be. Life becomes much sweeter when you pay attention to YOU more than OTHERS. Because after all it is ONLY YOU that can CREATE the LIFE you WANT and DESIRE! I don’t know about you, but I know I want to spend my time feeling relaxed, confident and laughing. Being Light and Airy, and content and not dependent on others for my self worth.

Life…

sandrapeacesign-1Recap- Life- of Recent… This am I went to Fed Ex, saw Mr. Ostilly, chatted about how gorgeous his model daughter Emma is, and I told him I watched Motherland,by my friend, Jennifer Steinman, on Hulu Plus, because he is from South Africa, and they mentioned South Africa and much of it was filmed in Africa– breath, (speaking quickly), then we talked about Emma’s boyfriend going into the Navy Seals, and I said better a disciplined Navy Seal any day of the week! Then the fedex worker behind the counter proceeded to tell us he was in the service and mentioned how Navy Seals have to carry a heavy metal pole on their shoulders to each class, go to class, go back and pick it up and walk to their next class, etc. Made me think wildly about fitness and strength.

I then walked over to Panera Bread to get a salad for lunch and was dressing up my iced coffee with half and half and AHHHHHHHHHHH, sound effects like heaven opening up, I see this woman’s back, as she ordered, (i thought silently, what does a woman like that eat?) so fit, legs, arms, entire body sinewy, lithe and firm. I think to myself, “I have to talk with her.”

She turns to half face me on her phone texting and I say, “Excuse me, what do I have to do to get a body like yours?” She chuckled humbly and proceeded to tell me that I needed to cross train. She does spinning, Zumba, and Bar Method Classes. I asked her if she was the teacher, she then said, I am the owner of Intensity Fitness and yes I do teach. She then pulled out a card and handed it to me. She said, “Come to the gym for 7 days on me and check out the classes, and email me or call my cell if you want, or if you have any questions.”

Bar Method.. hmmm… She said if we had Bar Method classes at midnight, they would be full! So now, I must try a Bar Method Class. I come back to the asset management firm and our intern says, my mom teaches Bar Method at Intensity! Yesterday, I also prepared a 1600 word article on Making the Perceptual Shift at my afternoon gig, and that spoke to me in terms of life in general, and what I have been presented with personally lately within my social life. Synchronistic.

AND, the coolest shit ever is that you can get Apps on your IPhone with meditations on them! I listened with my ear phones from my phone last night as I lay falling asleep! It doesn’t get much better than that now, does it? In a theta state, reprogramming my brain for peace, happiness and healing.

All after an evening Photoshop class in Westport- which is so fun with 3 other nice women so we all get great personal attention.

WOW, Ain’t life Grand?

It sure is….. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh….

ps the moral of the story is…. we are not alone, when you are completely open, and smiling, the world is your neighborhood. you can really communicate with anyone, even a stranger! it is emitting the correct positive energy while you do it to make it positive. the world is really not a lonely place at all… : )

Makes me want to conduct an investigation and video it. meeting strangers in one day in public, how many, how do they react, what can they add to your life…. SOUNDS AWESOME.. right?, but I’d like to have a hidden camera because if they know someone is video’ing they will be nicer than they would normally…

Insides Happy: Check!….

Happiness-Hands1

I love the fact that in every store they play pandora or sattelite, and every song reminds me of the 80s, one of my favorite era in terms of music! Why is it that all these bands are ringing so 80s? So “New Order-esque”, etc? I love it, makes me feel super light and happy to be alive. Music is all important, it is the background to my “movie” (life).

Honestly, I have been the happiest I have ever been in my life these last 5 months! What can I attribute it to? I wonder… Nothing in particular but a great attitude. I used to say to Dr. Grayson, “How can someone be spiritual all the time? Won’t they be totally boring?” He would say, “No Sandra, it always feels good.” I am understanding more and more of what he is saying! Spiritual = Happy. Spiritual = a great outlook on life. I guess I do have all my needs met. I have people I can count on, I have a safe, and fun place to live (alone is key!), and I am excited all the time about being creative, although I don’t have time to execute all the ideas in my head, I am constantly thinking about sharing my ideas and visions. I love how my unconditional love for others makes me feel so alive and happy, even if it isn’t returned! Big lesson here, even if you hold love in your heart for someone and they don’t exactly express it back, focus on how loving makes you feel! It feels sooooo good!

Yesterday the simple act of sleeping late to re-charge my body, then strolling down Main Street in Westport to grab some sustenance was totally enjoyable! The simplest things amaze and thrill me. I must have been emitting some seriously charged energy because everyone who passed said “hello” and at Oscar’s where I got my food on, they were super flirty and chatty! I got THE BEST sandwich EVER as well.

My friend Janet told me that her 88 year old mother visited from Hawaii and showed me pictures of her. She is so beautiful at 88. Janet said she is very happy and notices simple things. She said her mom mentioned the cool pattern that the telephone cord made! HA HA HA. Janet then said, “It’s almost like she is tripping all the time.” I laughed and said wow, I notice little things all the time. I hope it translates to total beauty inside and out forever for me too!

I am so grateful to be alive and to feel inspired, motivated, pleased, peaceful and to be learning all the time! Yesterday, my friend said to me that he felt I judged him. I had no idea! We discovered that it meant that he felt criticized. I told him that it is imperative that he call me out on it immediately when it is happening so that I know what he is talking about. This is an important lesson for me to learn! I think if we grow up with a critical eye, we can emulate it unknowingly and it becomes part of how we communicate our thoughts about others to others. I like to point out things I see in others and I appreciate it when they do the same for me. However, some people feel differently and it is important that we are mindful of how we come off to that person, especially if we care about them.

I told him that I felt I did it because I care about him so much. He didn’t understand and thought that was a crazy thing to say. I tried to explain that I must be pointing things out because I want him to be better, or that I care. But in the grand scheme of things, I can see it from his point of view clearly. It isn’t my place to point things out, it is better for me to just “be” in his presence and not worry about whether or not his behavior is productive or not. That is a big lesson for all of us to learn.

We must all stop trying to describe other’s behavior to them and just accept it. It is who they are. Even if we feel it is unproductive, it is not our place to determine that, ever. They are having their experience and we must allow them to. We must abstain from our vision and opinion about others because we truly never ever know if we are correct in our assumptions. It is also a big waste of our personal time. We should be focused on ourselves and what makes us happy.

Such a simple thing, is yet so profound. I am excited to be awakened to this aspect of myself and to change it! Afterall, the most exciting part about life  is our ability to wake up and be conscious, be different, and to form new habits.  My new habit will be to stop examining so much and just experience what is in front of me and accept it, surrender to it and to enjoy it for it’s difference from me.
