Thank God for the Crafty Women in the World!

One thing I am consistently thankful and totally grateful for is the ever insatiable desire of mine to create! Thank God I always feel like I have something to do, something to think about, and something to make! I cannot begin to understand someone who is bored, or who says, “I can’t find a job”, or “I have no idea what to do!” Are you kidding me? There are a million and one things to learn to do, to make, to love, to be inspired about! If I could do one thing for someone it would be to instill creative inspiration or expression in them, may it be writing, sewing, crafting, photographing, building, ANYTHING! To hear of someone not doing a thing with their life breaks my heart into a billion pieces! It is imperative that you search for and FIND your passion in life and may it be helping others and helping yourself at the same time! Life is terribly exciting and the challenges of achieving your goals are the bread and butter of life!

george

I was reminded of this today when I took a visit to a ROCK STAR of the fabric designing world’s private home, Jennifer Paganelli of Sis Boom fame! To be in her presence is a total treat for someone like me! She is a total inspiration for crafting and learning about design. Her home is one of bohemian elegance and George, her dog, is an unbelievable lover of human kind. He gave me plenty of kisses and got to show off his chair to me.

girls world

Jennifer is of the same ilk as me regarding life and excitement. She loves what she does and now has a new book out called Girl’s World, which gives some great patterns for sewing up some girl’s clothing! Her home is like being in a live fairy tale! It is rich with color, texture, pattern, and products made of her beautiful fabric. I got to take a gander into her private stash of fabric today and it was indelibly wonderful.

I feel very fortunate to know some super stellar people and Jennifer is one of them! I cannot wait for all of you to see my new Sis Boom Belt Collection inspired by Jennifer Paganelli! It is going to be colorful, whimsical and totally girly! YAY! Saturated color with a vintage flair…. that is alright by me!

If you are in Utah this week, Jennifer will be at the Quilt Mart signing her book and stopping by the Free Spirit Booth to talk to the shoppers! That will be a great event indeed.

utah 6This is a quilt made of Jennifer’s Designs, DELICIOUS, right? It is like a candy store! Love it!! See! Quilting is not just for your grandma anymore, although I don’t quilt, I appreciate the art and the designers who create some unbelievable fabrics! They inspire me! Yay, it’s fucking summer bitches! Let’s sew, create and Rock!!

I Told You- I Like it Bright, Part One, My Digs…

AHH Huh!

AHH Huh!

This is what I like, personally! I need color and lots of it! I cannot take a wooden, colonial table because it depresses me! I feel like if I have a wood table without color it is like George Washington and Betsy Ross time! I loathe ordinary and I need fun, whimsical, and light. I am slowly beginning to develop the style of my sitting room and this is one aspect of it. I am not a knick knack type of person, so I am going to have to figure that out at some point. The decorative glass on the table is handmade by a woman in Norwalk, the coaster is handmade by these women from Ridgefield, I forgot both their names, and I painted that table last night in my kitchen while listening to Fox News go over the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, what this country was founded upon and how it is changing dramatically. This am I painted yet another table that I will have to put another coat on when I arrive home later to get the Roxie dog. Roxie loves her new digs because she is allowed anywhere she wants to go! No more “dogs are now allowed on my hideously ugly couch syndrome!”  YAY! I AM SO HAPPY THAT THOSE PEOPLE ARE G-O-N-E! They were never cool enough for the likes of me and Roxie!

a cell phone shot of a small part of one room of about 5 with merchandise!

I just got back from a colorful journey to the home of Jennifer Paganelli who designs fabrics for her company entitled SIS BOOM.  Westminster Fabrics manufactures her line and it is really quite something to behold!  I would categorize it as shabby chic meets modern! I use many of her prints to make my belts at http://www.olivergreenonline.com

If you would like to meet a true fabric rock-star and creative force, not to mention snap up some of her very whimsical designs which come in the form of pillows, tunics, dresses, boxer-shorts, and so many other creations, as well as costume jewelry. You should stop by 40 E. Meadow Street, Wilton, CT!  She only has this sale twice a year and it is quite an eyeful.  This is the only other location I have been to that reminds me of my colorful booth at craft shows! CANDY STORE!! Both of us!!  She is one of the many designers that make me a fabriholic!  A true talent and a wonderfully gifted designer.  I felt like I was in heaven… nothing excites me more than color and great fabrics.. NOTHING!!

Sis Boom’s Web Site is: www.sisboom.com

the art of quilting is not for your grandmother.. and quilts now are cooler than ever!

beautiful amy butler fabric quilt!Roxie and Martha StewartI had to post this quilt because I think it is devine and to die for! I can’t stop staring at it… and I know a great quilter, designer named Roxy who has a great store in Ridgefield, CT called Quilter’s Alley.  This quilt is not by Roxy, but she is hip and extremely talented.  If you are designing your home, a room, or want a cool and modern quilt you should look her up!  She is well known for designing quilts and loves to put together edgy fabrics for a modern feel!  I do not know how to quilt, but am fond of the art given the interesting quilting fabrics that are out there! They are saturated with color and the quality of the fabric is unmatched.  Couldn’t you just see this quilt in your room or guest bedroom popping with color? Like I said, quilts aren’t just for grandmas anymore! They are for forward thinking, stylish, and cool people! WORD UP!  Check out Roxy’s store: http://www.thequiltersalley.com/

You just may become inspired.. you don’t have to sew your own quilt, you can hire someone to make it for you…  for those of you familiar with my belts will see some fabric that I have used for belts in this picture!  I am all about the print! Fabriholic!! Indeed….
