Ok, I don’t like to be negative but yesterday at the gym they had on several televisions and one always has on this show and I am not sure from where these women hail, California I would presume, but since when does the majority of America really want to watch such ordinary, everyday women in their old lady attire, done up with WAY TOO LONG HAIR (extensions), making them look tired, stale and out dated, with way too much makeup, way too high heels, and less than average intellect? They give us women in their 40s a really bad rap! Believe me, there are some very cool chicks out there. ahh hem.. me… and this is all highly offensive!

I don’t know about you, but after I graduated high school, the cheerleader mentality became far less pervasive, although, I would have to say that the cheerleaders in my highschool were pretty cool, however, when I see these women, I harken back to my highschool head and find that these women never really grew up and out of this sort of average, predictable, and OUTDATED image!

I know I am viewing it with Sandra Oles eyes, and they may not necessarily be reflective of main stream society, but this shit just bores me beyond belief, and I am unsure as to why this image is perpetuated via the media. These women in their late 40s just look so tired, played, and corny in their too short silk dresses, too high heels and too long hair, and too much makeup! They all look alike, sort of like those bodies in lingerie in catalogs, YAWN.. all looking identically proportioned, and these, all these tiny hineys in this pic– all looking alike- OMG! Really? Yah, these girls are skinny and all have identical asses! Hooray- YAWN…

This is all carbon copy, sheep mentality and I am deeply disappointed in people that they applaud it, watch it and have these housewives/women make even more money than they have- NOT SO MUCH due to themselves, but their wealthy husbands! Oh, wait, this show will enable them to make money just being average and trying to push products on all of us so we can be just like them! Hip Hip Hooray!!

So what is the message here? That we AMERICANS want to watch women who marry rich guys, who all want to look alike, and compete with another jealously for looks, hair, clothing and homes? REALLY? Well aren’t we just a bunch of dumb mother fuckers to allow this, and to fund this shit!

A country of followers, sheep and simpletons! YAY! Fan-fucking tastic. If you ask me, and I know you aren’t, we need to have shows where we showcase women who are entrepreneurs, who are confident in their individuality, and working to make something of themselves with integrity, strength, challenges, and FUCKING STYLE! Style meaning they have the ability to assert themselves creatively, uniquely, and confidently! I am in such a state of dismay that these housewives show even exist, and more-so that these women are a total embarrassment because they NEVER FUCKING GREW UP! They want to stay the highschool cheerleader they were. And we still make them popular as a society now on Television, as if being popular in highschool wasn’t enough!!!

Isn’t it weird how life is a big highschool? Where the media still thinks we revere these types of people and want to keep watching them in our adulthood!>???!!!? Does anyone else find this deeply disturbing? I don’t know about you, but I always liked the different people, the ones who had enough balls to be themselves and to not try to fit into some mold of media magazine appearance. Yah, of course I wore stylish clothes and I loved them, but I was also a unique individual with a keen sense of humor, and the ability to accept lots of different people in my circle! That is what makes life so interesting!

Bravo takes a pack of identical women and packages them into a show that people want to watch, and sorry dudes, I don’t get it! I want to watch women who dress uniquely and cool, and who are working at making their passions their life businesses! Not women who live off their husbands and attend charity events, get drunk and fight about who or who may not need botox! Jesus Christ people.

Look at us, don't we look like we are trying to be "hot" like highschool girls?"

I invite any production company to contact me through this site so that I can pitch some far better ideas for inspiring television!

These women never grew up, they need to burn all these ridiculous frocks and put on some jeans and do some real work instead of just getting work done on their faces and bodies!

Look, I am all for preserving your beauty and looks but if that is all you think your value is, you’ve got serious fucking problems, and clearly these women are addled with psychological problems. There is more to life than being a sheep and carbon copies of other people! Yes, I am yelling inside of my own head as I type this! GAWD! AND YES, this post is nauseatingly repetitive.

The first 3 episodes made me so uncomfortable. Laura Dern plays Amy, a woman who has just returned from a rehab center after having a mental breakdown. Amy is socially awkward and puts herself in some “self created” social land mines time and time again. She isn’t “garden variety” cringe-worthy like Larry David. She takes it to a whole nother level.

I am a firm believer in at least watching two episodes of a series on cable. More than likely you will “get it” after the second show. I was reluctant to continue to journey into Enlightened, but I am glad I did. I’ve now caught up to the current schedule and have found it to be Six Feet Under “dark”, The Big C, funny, and thought provoking too.

Since “Amy” is on a path of enlightenment, it is interesting to see how a series will convey spirituality and the reaction of others to someone who is fully trying to embrace the better part of her being. Laura Dern created this show with Mike White and they are definitely onto something. I like hearing the thoughts in “Amy’s” head. They are realistic, and make me realize that everyone can relate to her character which was a revelation, after experiencing her “crazy” in the first four episodes. She begins to become more bearable as the show goes on.

Amy’s ex husband is played by Luke Wilson, who doesn’t love a little LUKE? Her ex, is drug addicted, cute and sort of stagnant and they have a lot of love between them. You wonder, drug addicted because of all the heartbreak in their past, or always that way.

Her mom is played by Diane Ladd and Amy’s mother is disappointly jaded and non communicative, BUT does have a minute of shine- exactly ONE MINUTE, once in a blue moon.

I say, WATCH IT! I am into it now. There are some funny situations, characters, and some inspiring dialogue. After-all, it is about someone actually “Waking Up.” I like that is on cable because it brings the edge necessary to be realistic.

—oh and Robin Wright was a guest star on one. She is pretty cool in my book…

Prime Suspect! Jane Timoney, played skillfully by Mario Bello, is UNBELIEVABLY ballsy, raw, authentic and real. She plays a detective on the show who’s male co-workers don’t know how to handle because she isn’t putting on a “girly act” to placate them and make them comfortable. Jane Timoney kicks major ass! When I tell you I am SO GLAD this character was written and played by Maria Bello is a total UNDERSTATEMENT!

Thank god there is now a female character who is cool as shit, smart and non apologetic for her strength of character, conviction, personality and commitment! YES, America, watch and understand how hard it is to assert yourself in society as a cool, smart woman who isn’t infantile and youthful! THANK YOU WRITERS OF Prime Suspect, from the bottom of my strong heart! Thank you for skillfully showing how a smart, tough woman makes men cringe and creates in them a need to flee because she isn’t kitten like and trying to please the men around her. Thank you Jane T. for being unyielding in your beliefs and stance and not cow towing to the weak men around you so that they find you un-intimidating and sexually attractive! Thanks for not giving a shit how these weakling men feel around you and trying to win they over with false sexuality and fair maiden behavior! YES! YES! YES!

Thanks for having kick ass style, and asserting yourself authentically in the world of detectives! I am so thrilled about this show I could seriously scream! Very few men in this show can handle her because they can’t deal with a woman with COMPLETE and utter SWAGGER!

GO JANE GO cause you rock the house! Thank You.. Perfectly cast with Maria Fucking Bello! YEA! I am symbolically kicking around some furniture right now and flexing my biceps! ha ha ha…

I love programming on HBO and Showtime! I also love Laura Dern like I love Laura Linney from The Big C. I also love Nancy Botwin, from Weeds, played by Mary Louise Parker. All these women are cool, strong and in their 40s. They look great, are super under-rated, and very talented actresses! I love how these networks cast their series. Bored to Death features Jason Schwartzman as Jonathan Ames. Another sleeper, cult-ish, not conventionally dumb, attractive or main stream, THANK GOD. HBO and Showtime create shows for the cooler, thinking man. The man who glides under the line of social convention, the man who isn’t going to tune into Jerseylicious, or Jersey Shore, or the Kardashians. Save that dumbed down, insulting fare for the average man. The programming I am mentioning is for the Indie man! Thank you HBO, and Showtime for catering to people like me, who have a brain, who swim in the sea of individuality and don’t subscribe to media based personal pressure. I cannot wait for Laura Dern’s debut! I am certain she is gonna kill it!

This weekend I was preparing my belt order for a retail store and I have the television on in the background on channel 5, and I happened upon a super inspiring show that made me proud to be an American. The show is called The Real Winning Edge, and it features teenagers making the right choices and achieving personal accomplishments by pushing through opposition! Thank god, YAH FOX, WAY TO STEP IT UP!

My god, after seeing some New Jersey Housewives Reunion show where the woman was yelling at another woman in her face and then she threw the host off of her and was completely out of her mind– that totally bothered me. I went from being totally inspired and feeling so great to feeling upset. It is not good for one’s physical health to watch shows that promote dysfunction and bad behavior. It elevates your heart rate and damages your cells, and ultimate adds the greater odds of developing dis-ease.

One more thing, wow, Extreme Home Makeover last night, I caught the end, so touching—that is what I want to see! Shows that show people helping one another, shows that teach me a new skill or a new way of looking at something and a show that inspires me to be a better person and make me cry like an abandoned baby on a lonesome highway! ha hah a.. OH MY GOD, one more thing, Friday Night Lights, the episode from May 6th, a real freaking CRY FEST! That show KILLS me! The theme song, the characters, the kids doing the “right thing.” Another show making me proud to be an American! Vince is an amazing character this season! I already forgot all about Smash Williams!

Vince is played by Michael V. Jordan and he is extraordinary! He is also in another show I love called Parenthood which has an all star cast- my girl from Gilmore Girls, and Dax Shepard, and the guy from 6 feet under, Peter Krause! They also feature a character, a child who has Asperger’s syndrome in the show. I love that- demystifies things for the general public about different kids, etc. VERY IMPORTANT.

I have to go, I know this post was poorly written because I am in a hurry, but it features some great shows!

The high I feel when I feel good is unmatchable to any thing in the world and I don’t understand why people are addicted to watching SHIT on television and then making celebrities out of the SHIT!

While preparing a belt order for another equestrian apparel and tack shop, I happened upon a little ditty of a show called Mob Wives. Wow. Because I work for a spiritual psychologist, things jump out at me. The expression of fist fighting from grown women has me a bit worried about this country and society in general. Why is it that major media outlets air shit like this? Why is it stupidity glamorized? We all know that this exists but why put it out there in our faces? I have to admit that I love the theme song, and I enjoy the Reservoir Dogs-esque slow mo walk in their mob attire, but after that, I just get lost in women talking smack about each other and expressing how one another should fear them. Isn’t that ridiculous? I mean, are we in grade school? Isn’t bullying totally shunned upon now? Isn’t wanting to kick someone’s ass passe? I don’t know about you, but seeing grown women threaten one another is more than ludicrous.

I watched a woman talk to her son as if he was a “friend” and witnessed the mother throwing around F bombs like the WORD “THE”, and her son even said, “Mom, you said the bad word a ton of times.” Isn’t there something inherently wrong with that? Have I become my grandmother, or is this all horribly wrong? The only part I think is pretty funny is when they are in the gym! Hilarious how boyish they become as they work out, punch things, and box! That part is super silly. I love it. I wish the whole show was them at the gym shooting the breeze and working out.

Before the show came on, there was a ton of SNL skits on and they were hilarious. I forget just how irreverent and awesome SNL is sometimes. It truly is an institution like no other. The world needs more ridiculous and more humor, not dysfunctional, uneducated people trying to scare one another. How dumbing is that? How strange is that that we as a society covet and watch messes of people? Will there ever come a time when people crave knowledge and inspiration? I hope so!

With that being said, isn’t American Idol so much better now that Simon is gone? The judges are so civilized, motivating and kind! I love that. It makes you feel so good when you watch it! The artists flourish when given criticism in a positive manner. Love flows, shit happens, and people well up with emotion. I loved the other night when Casey went home and he made the best of his last performance by kissing random people, judges, rolling around on the floor, and overall just amped up and grateful to have been there! When the people who get kicked off are fighting tears and being sad during their last song, it is so difficult to watch! Each of these artists will get a record deal, no need to cry! Seriously.. American Idol has really turned out to be a positive show this year! I am glad Steven Tyler is finally getting the massive attention he deserves! He has always been a serious crush for me, ever since I was 10 years old! The first album I ever bought was Aerosmith, Featuring Dream On. I am glad that now very young people know who he is and that everyone gets to see what a doll he is! He is rock and roll and kind! People need to see that! It is cool to be kind, smart, creative and driven. It is important to put a human being behind an artist and their persona! Too many young people take songs and raps literally and try to emulate or adhere to a lifestyle communicated in a song! How retarded!

Young people want to be gangsters, and do everything that rappers rap about in their songs! Are you kidding me? How weird is that? That to me is hilarious and unfortunate! They are songs people, not biographies! If more artists would be featured in an everyday way, less people would try to “act out” what they think the song is conveying and understand that the song is simply a creative outlet for frustration and fear. So listen up young people- stop trying to be Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, and whomever it is that you think you want to be like given a SONG that you like and focus on being yourself! Focus on what brings you happiness and try to do “that” as much as possible. I wish James Hetfield would have a talk show about addiction and talk to others who have over come it to show how it is possible. I also would like to see a show featuring a hard core rapper with his kids, and wife. Anyway, I am getting off track here, I must relinquish my writing for the night as I have an early day tomorrow.

I haven’t watched in awhile, but I have to agree with America about dumping Pia! She is just ordinary, another Celine Dion, and there are a lot of Celine Dion fans out there, but I am not one of them. I YAWN when I hear her music. It just doesn’t move me in the least. It makes me BORED. So with that being said, tonight’s show was good, and James Durbin made it GREAT! Not only did he come out with metal power, but he had Zak Wylde in tow! HELLO! WHAT? I know… It made me get up off the couch and want to “do things”!

So.. Yes America, THANK YOU for voting off Pia, pretty, boring Pia. Give me terrets, learning disabled rocker James Durbin any day of the week. I love an under dog and James is the one I want to win, HANDS DOWN! Give me some crazy, some energy, and some THING other than ballads, and country. American Idol has a lightening bolt and his name is James. GO JAMES!!

The only thing which might have sent me into a swing of GLORY would have been Steven Tyler singing BACK IN THE SADDLE! Now that is what I NEED… I needed it in elementary school, middle school, high school and now in my womanhood!

I’ve had to put a television in my sewing room so that I don’t feel so disconnected from the world when I sew and I am 20 times more productive because I sew for a much longer period of time. I have had the channel on Bravo perpetually. I have now seen Real Housewives of NY, Orange County and Betheny Ever After and a couple episodes of each. By the time I turn off the television to exit my sewing room, I am not only exhausted from crafting, but mentally exhausted from listening to the REUNION SHOWS and the episodes!

First who is Andy Cohen, the host of these reunion shows besides a massive FIRESTARTER!? They hired him because he is attractive and a total instigator! I am going to google him now for his “history” in show business. Cohen has been the network’s senior vice-president of original programming and development for four years. Ok, so he went from a behind the scenes man to a front line entertainer. Hey Andy are you really proud of adding to the dumbing down of America?! Does that make you feel great? Knowing that you are contributing the lack of creativity and industry in this country making us fall further down into the abyss of loserdom compared to the rest of the world in ingenuity, economy and skill set to fill the existent jobs here? No wonder why we have to outsource all our tech jobs, everyone is too busy glued to their television sets trying to emulate everything that is wrong with society! Not to mention focusing on everything else but themselves. Why don’t you use your handsome brain to come up with programming to enhance society? Thank you…

My observations include:

I cannot believe how “women” are portrayed in these shows. Portrayed with editing, I would HOPE, but also feel that there is an issue with each of them and their lack of real spirituality or personal growth in terms of how they interact with and treat each other. It’s sad, all the bickering and jealousy is just downright depressing. It depicts what is wrong with humanity in general. They would rather be divisive rather than unite. There is inherent weakness in this strategy and it is continually reflected by how unpeacefully they co-exist.

I believe Kelly Killoren Bensimon has a very bad case of ADD. Seriously, when they all pick on her, how she responds, and how she lives her life without any sense of continuity. How hypocritical she is and how she defends it so poorly are classic ADD! She needs to look into that asap, it could make a huge difference for her. She seems suspiciously absent mentally. Like ADD absent.

The botox party on Orange County version was clearly sponsored by Botox Cosmetic. One woman isn’t going to buy botox for all her friends at a 2 hour party! Great signage BOTOX! They figure if main stream America sees them doing it, the phones will be ringing off the hook to go get their Botox too, PR Trick #1.

The reunion shows are a catastrophe of fighting, yelling, judging, rehashing the past and a downright CRYING festival of discomfort! It is clear that these women are remorseful when they are “caught” or called out for their behavior but they click right back into defense mode once the heat is off of them and they are attacking someone else. These reunion shows just enforce the stereotype that “women are crazy and over emotional”. Would there ever be a show where men who all hung out would cry about how one another treated them? I am not sure, but I would love to see a show on Real Husbands of all these cities and see what happens, or perhaps that would not make great television because we wouldn’t continually see human beings berate one another and suffer so much discontentment from the false friendships. The casting department purposely picks women that they know will harm one another emotionally in front of the whole world! It is sort of crazy to me. It’s like taking these lower conscious operating women and putting them together in a cage to see who survives. I don’t think these women are bad people, but their priorities in life are a little absurd given their age and acquired wisdom, or here, perhaps lack thereof. I find a lot of women in general to be insensitive to others feelings, and I am not immune to that comment because at the same time we can over analyze things that just don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. The only thing in life that truly matters is LOVE, plain and simple. How you assert yourself in the world is a direct reflection of how you feel about your self “inside”…

Lastly, Betheny, oh lord. I know lots of people who “like” her because she is self effacing etc. Her show is nothing more than two people, she and her husband, over talking, over communicating, over complicating things that really don’t matter. I guess this is entitled ENTERTAINMENT. I get so exhausted listening to them go back and forth and watching her very intimate and personal emotional melt downs. Why is it necessary to televise this? I am not sure. If someone wants to chime and and comment, I welcome it.

I am quite certain that this form of entertainment and television isn’t good for the soul or the mind. It’s not that I am boring, and not appreciative of others hashing out their complications but I am def only learning one thing, WHAT NOT TO DO! Perhaps that is what I should focus on here, turn it around and realize that these shows have shown me HOW NOT TO FUNCTION, HOW NOT TO BEHAVE, HOW NOT TO TREAT MY FRIENDS, HOW NOT TO DRESS, LOOK, and PRIORITIZE.

I believe next season they should all focus on growing emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically. How about we bring in people like Dr. Henry Grayson, Michael Beckwith, Byron Katie, and other great spiritual thinkers and teach them more consciously effective ways with which to view themselves and others?

I found these pictures on the net with the words, I am sorry to perpetuate some ill will, but I really want to make a strong point here. I don’t condone it and feel a bit bad about it, but it is impactful. I don’t ever believe that any one is truly “bad”. I don’t think anyone really wants to be an asshole. I just wish people who are being televised would try to set a better example of how to behave.

Peace!

The key to a great show is the emotional connection one makes with the characters. The “likability” of the characters, per-say. Characters, Setting, Problem, Solution, or protagonists, antagonists, flat characters, static, round, dynamic… all these elements play into a great fictional story.

Californication’s Hank Moody just isn’t harnessing my heart this season. He used to be the loveable screw up, but now, he is bordering on pathetic. I hope the writers get more creative with his role. I realize without Hank Moody being so messed up there isn’t a show, but it is now teetering on ridiculous and the redemption factor just isn’t present at the moment.

In Shameless, there are tons of great characters! William H. Macy is genius as Frank Gallagher, the family patriarch, useless, good for nothing alcoholic who has no redeeming qualities. Correction, he has flashes of human-ness. Emily Rossum is unbelievable as “Fee” (Fiona), the eldest sister and daughter of Frank, who takes on the role of matriarch because Frank is too busy gallivanting to the local bar and to the neighbors house to get gourmet meals from the agoraphobic, kinky Sheila Jackson, played skillfully by Joan Cusak! This is a big Irish Catholic family of 6 kids who must fend for themselves and find creative ways to make money to pay the bills and survive. Every character is rich with its michegas and they are all lovable. The neighbors are rich with controversy as they are a racially mixed couple who foster a Mormon child of 13 who has her own child! Hilarious! This is by far the best show on television!

Now I am on United States of Tara and Nurse Jackie. I favor United States of Tara over Nurse Jackie because the characters are more original. Tara, played by Toni Collette is totally outrageous, her children are interesting, her one son is gay and feeling his way around it in high-school and her daughter is provocative, smart, hilarious and snarky. Tara’s sister is a mess and a constant character. Lots of action in this series!

I love Nurse Jackie, played be Edie Falco, she is flawless in it as far as performance, but the characters surrounding her aren’t as interesting. Nurse Jackie is a master manipulator and liar, but has this highly principled side which is ironic given her dishonesty directed toward the people closest to her. She is tough, unyielding and lovable despite her addiction to pain killers, which she will do anything to obtain and take, including infidelity.

This is a more “realistic” scenario type show with safer characters contained in a hospital environment. I feel as if the writers are careful to portray medical professionals as conservative as they can so they don’t get any flack! THIS IS FICTION and I wish they would go a bit wilder! Jackie is the only character with interesting flaws. I watch it because Edie is AMAZING, not because I get a kick out of anyone else on the show. They need to wack it up a bit!
